Housewife shot dead
Imphal:
In yet another attack to the kins of CPI workers, a house wife of an active worker of CPI was shot dead late last by unknown armed persons as the assailants failed to find her husband at Sabungkhok under Imphal East district.
In the meant time, irate locals protesting against the killing incident came out in the streets and blocked roads for the day.
The incident occurred at about 11 pm last night when three unidentified persons came searching for N. Tomba and as they could not locate him, the intruders instead turned their gun toward his wife identified as N. Indira Devi (45) and pumped two shots at the chest and shoulder. She was immediately evacuated at Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) but she passed away at around mid-night.
N. Tomba is said to be an active worker of Ph. Parijat, minister of health and politburo of CPI state unit.
Meanwhile, the Subungkhok people today submitted a memorandum to the chief minister throught its local MLA, Ph. Parijat.
It is worth noting that a son of an active worker of CPI was abducted on July 19 but subsequently rescued by Manipur police on July 23.
On July 21, a close associate of minister Ph. Parijat was shot at his both the legs by one particular militant group. A son of another CPI worker was also attempted for abduction bid but failed as the local people raised alarm which prevented the kidnapping.
